Media Module and File Field content type fields

McBride, Ian S.
Thanks again for the update to the Monster Menus code Dan, it resolved the issue I was experiencing last week with the user permissions dialog. I'm sorry that we haven't been able to provide much help in the way of testing the service, but we've got two users who are going to start content development on our test instances this week, which I'm certain will provide plenty of information on whether there are any kinks in the system.

One questions on a bit of a less technical front: how are you handling file upload fields integration with your media module? We've got a content type where we'd like to add a stand-alone field for an image, but would also of course like this image to be stored in the correct location in the MM hierarchy. I noticed on your test instance that you're not using the CCK File Field and associated Image Field modules and your content types seem to just use Title/Body/Taxonomy fields. Do you recommend generally just using the Body field to structure content on our site with MM or is there something I'm missing here?

You're correct that we're not using the file upload CCK field
anywhere. But I think that it should work OK in terms of having the
node attached to the correct MM page; the controls for doing this are
added to the edit page automatically.

The area we haven't tested, though, is permissions. You should make
sure that an image attached to a CCK upload field can't be URL
hacked, allowing users who can't normally view the page the node is
attached to to see the content. In other words, figure out what the
"src=" attribute of the <img> tag is, and try to access that as a
user who isn't permitted to read the page.
